The Air & Waste Management Association – East Michigan Chapter is offering “PM 2.5 – What’s New for SE Michigan,” an after-work event featuring discussion, food, drinks and networking. Warner Norcross + Judd LLP partner Kurt Kissling and members of the Air Quality Division of Michigan’s Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy will discuss recent federal and state air actions.

Earlier this year, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced that it’s reducing the allowable amount of PM2.5, also known as “fine particulate matter” or “soot,” in the air. The new standard is a significant reduction and represents the first tightening of the rules since 2012. Kissling and his co-presenters will discuss this rule and how Michigan plans to implement it.

The Sept. 10 event will be held at Ferndale’s Valentine Distilling Co.
