The Federal Bar Association for the Western District of Michigan’s 36th Annual Bankruptcy Section Seminar will convene more than 20 federal and state judges, consumer and commercial insolvency professionals and other business leaders for robust discussion on recent developments and hot topics in bankruptcy law.
Three Warner Norcross + Judd LLP attorneys are on the event agenda:
- R. Michael Azzi, “PFAS on the Brain.” Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) is a ubiquitous mouthful. Indeed, it is in our water, in our food, in our cells, but not always in our minds. Azzi and his fellow panelists have been thinking about PFAS for years and will explain why it should be top of mind for Michigan businesses and residents.
- Dennis Loughlin, “Investigating/Pursuing Insiders.” This panel examines the unusual and arguably convoluted approach chapter 11 takes to insiders. This panel will share strategies, insights and the occasional case study in the hopes of making sense of this peculiar aspect of chapter 11.
- Jay Yelton, “Discovery Issues.” Discovery can be costly, time consuming and cumbersome. Event panelists, including a district judge from the Eastern District of Michigan, will share their insights and tips on best practices surrounding this process, with reminders about electronically stored information, proportionality, ROT and disputes.
The three-day seminar runs from July 26-28 at Boyne Highlands in Harbor Springs. In addition to plenary and breakout sessions on a range of topics, event participants will have the opportunity to network with colleagues and enjoy northern Michigan. For more information, please click here.
