Warner Norcross + Judd LLP Partner Daniel Ettinger has been elected as a trustee-at-large to The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law (FNREL), formerly known as the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation. Ettinger will serve a two-year term.
The FNREL, now entering its 62nd year, is a collaborative educational nonprofit organization dedicated to the scholarly and practical study of the law and regulations relating to mining, oil and gas, water, public lands, energy, environmental protection and other related areas. The FNREL offers programs including institutes, short courses and workshops; publications; its online digital library; grants to law schools and faculty; and scholarships for qualified law students. The FNREL’s trustees council includes representatives from 30 law schools, 13 bar associations and 19 mining and oil and gas associations.
Ettinger advises in the areas of mining, renewable/alternative energy, oil and gas and other natural resource development. He represents local, national and international clients in environmental litigation and appeals, zoning and administrative law, and permitting and compliance matters. A highly experienced and zealous advocate, he represents mining and other natural resource development companies in federal and state trial and appellate courts and before administrative tribunals and municipalities. Dan’s practice includes a special focus on issues related to Native American tribes and cultural resources. He advises mining and other natural resource development clients regarding tribal engagement and consultation, and compliance with laws aimed at protecting tribal interests and resources, such as the National Environmental Policy Act and the National Historic Preservation Act. He currently serves as the chair of the firm's Resources, Energy and Environmental Law Practice Group.
