Roane and Sater are featured in the U.S guide, which highlights attorneys “who can help you hold on when times seem they can’t get worse and to protect children, families and assets that can easily be damaged often beyond repair in the hands of less wise counsel.” Attorneys are nominated by their peers and clients for the honor, then vetted through journalistic research.

Best Lawyers also named him Grand Rapids Family Law Lawyer of the Year two times. Grand Rapids Magazine named him a Top Lawyer in Family Law three times.
