Sara A. Nicholson, a partner with the law firm Warner Norcross + Judd LLP, has been elected as a Fellow to the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.
To qualify for membership, a lawyer must have at least a decade worth of experience in the active practice of trust law or estate planning. Lawyers and law professors are elected to be Fellows based on their outstanding reputation, exceptional skills and substantial contributions to the field by lecturing, writing, teaching and participating in professional activities. Additionally, members work to enact significant state or federal trust and estate legislation or educate and mentor communities that have been historically underrepresented in estate planning.
Nicholson is an estate and tax-planning attorney in Warner’s Kalamazoo office. She helps West Michigan families navigate the complex terrain of trusts and estates, specializing in planning with retirement assets for both individuals and families.
She is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan and Kalamazoo County Bar Association. She has been recognized by the State Bar of Michigan’s A Lawyer Helps Pro Bono Honor Roll. She is a regular contributor to the Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
Active in the community, Nicholson serves on the Sherman Lake YMCA board, as a volunteer coach for Girls on the Run and as a volunteer in Kalamazoo College’s Center for Career and Professional Development. She previously served as secretary for the YWCA of Kalamazoo board. She also is a graduate of Leadership Kalamazoo.
