Warner Partner Ric Roane Interviewed by CNN: How Covid is making divorce cases more complicated

Warner family law Partner Richard “Ric” Roane was recently interviewed by CNN for the article, “How Covid is making divorce cases more complicated.”

This article discusses how COVID-19 has made it more difficult for millions of divorced and divorcing parents across the country to co-parent, with issues like masks, remote schooling, travel and vaccines being tricky to navigate. Many long-dormant cases are now back in court due to these challenges.

“Parents are in this terrible position, trying to do what they think is best for their kids, and then fighting with their estranged spouse to try to do what’s best for their kids,” says Ric Roane.

The job market has placed additional constraints on parents’ decisions when it comes to where they can accept a job and maintain custody arrangements. Additionally, some states are making rulings on parents’ vaccination status – keeping the health and safety of the children a top priority. However, vaccines aren’t the only pandemic-related issues surfacing in custody battles. Everything from mask wearing to social distancing and in person vs. virtual learning are all impacting divorced families.
