They are also the lawyers to whom other lawyers make referrals because of their expertise and accomplishments. &nbsp; Based in Grand Rapids, Battershall concentrates his practice in business and corporate law, assisting health institutions, large publicly traded companies and smaller privately owned companies in contracts, general corporate law, transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, licensing and distribution arrangements. He is the former chair of Warner’s Business Practice Group, one of the largest in the firm. &nbsp; Co-chair of the firm’s Health Law Practice Group, Battershall helps lead a team of 26 attorneys who serve as general counsel to hospitals, physicians and physician groups, nursing homes, health insurance companies and other providers of health care services. The firm again was named among the top 10 health law firms of the Midwest by the American Bar Association. &nbsp; Battershall has been named to the Michigan Super Lawyers list by&nbsp;Super Lawyers Magazine&nbsp;and&nbsp;The Best Lawyers in America®&nbsp;every year since 2007. In 2019, he received a Carol Van Andel Angel of Excellence Award from Van Andel Institute. &nbsp; Battershall serves on Albion College’s Gerald R. Ford Institute for Leadership in Public Policy and Service advisory council and Feeding America West Michigan’s board of directors. He has previously served as the board’s president.
