Warner Norcross + Judd LLP will host a Data Solutions Symposium on Wednesday, April 17 in Grand Rapids.
The half-day program will feature updates and best practices on eDiscovery, cybersecurity and privacy. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. at the JW Marriott, 235 Louis St. NW, and the program wraps up after a cocktail reception beginning at 4:30 p.m.
“The number of privacy and information security laws continue to increase domestically and abroad,” said Jay Yelton, a Warner partner and co-chair of the Data Solutions Practice Group. “While the most restrictive laws have been at the international level, U.S. states — led by the state of California — are starting to pass laws with similar requirements, and U.S. businesses need to keep up with these changes.”
The program will open at 1 p.m. with a general session focused on “Complying with the California Consumer Privacy Act.” This session will provide an overview of the CCPA scheduled to go into effect next year to provide comprehensive consumer rights similar to those found in the EU's General Data Protection Regulation. The session will examine a number of case studies to identify how the rules apply to organizations that collect data about California residents.
Attendees can then choose from breakout sessions in two tracks.
