Scott J. DeWeerd has joined Warner Norcross + Judd LLP as an associate.
DeWeerd concentrates his practice on trusts and estates, asset protection and tax planning. He brings a background in planning for multigenerational wealth transfers, multinational families, closely held businesses and family offices and counsels clients on charitable giving strategies, income tax reduction techniques and trust and estate administration and litigation. He works regularly with ultra-high-net-worth clients, highly compensated clients and family and closely held businesses. He is based in Warner’s Holland office.
Before joining Warner, DeWeerd was a private client services attorney with Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge in Holland and Grand Rapids and with Molosky & Co. in Harbor Springs.
DeWeerd holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Albion College and a law degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, where he also received a master of law degree in taxation and was on the staff of the Loyola of Los Angeles Entertainment Law Review.
DeWeerd currently resides in Grand Rapids.
