Rethink passing court costs to defendants

In the state of Michigan, criminal defendants face much more than the possibility of imprisonment or making restitution to their victims. They must also pay court costs. With the statute authorizing defendants to pay these costs expiring in 2017, Michigan legislature must consider the impact of these costs to criminal defendants and entertain alternatives this debt burden has on defendants.
