In today’s Law Shanty video, Steve Palazzolo discusses what employers can and cannot ask during an employment candidate interview. Although any listed experience or interest on a resume may seem like fair game to inquire about, be forewarned it is not. When it comes to religion, race, sexual preference or age and other protected categories – those topics are off limits. Steve talks about the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act of 1976 and the Michigan Pre-Employment Inquiry Guide as the manual to follow when conducting interviews with prospective employees. Watch the video to learn more about safeguarding your hiring practices during the interview process.
