Crain’s Detroit Business is reporting that Judge Henry Saad will retire in November. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Engler in 1994. Judge Saad was President George W. Bush’s initial nominee for the Sixth Circuit seat held by Raymond Kethledge, the latter now frequently mentioned as a potential future nominee by President Trump to the U.S. Supreme Court. Governor Snyder has promised to appoint someone to fill Judge Saad’s seat, and the appointee will then run for election to fill the remainder of the term in the November 2018 general election.
