The Institute of Continuing Legal Education, the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and the Michigan Judicial Institute are cohosting the 22nd Annual Family Law Institute Conference on Thursday, Nov. 16 – Friday, Nov. 17.
Attendees will hear from 10 Michigan judge speakers on child support issues, the practicalities of spousal support and complex gray divorces. Attendees will brush up on the basics with insights on top evidence rules and more.
Warner Partner Roquia Draper will present with Jennifer LaTosch from Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP on Thursday, Nov. 16 on “Back to Basics: Direct and Cross-Examination” where they’ll provide tips for effective direct and cross-examination techniques and how the most successful case is planned before counsel steps foot in the courtroom. They’ll advice on who to call, when to call and how to highlight witness testimony starting with the end goal in mind.
Warner Partner Laura Morris will present alongside the Hon. Linda Hallmark of the Oakland County Probate Court also on Thursday, Nov. 16 on “Practical Aspects of Late in Life Marriages and Divorces.” They’ll explore best practices for situations where one spouse is incapacitated, disputes over prenup abuse when a spouse has diminished capacity, blended family disputes and post-death estate planning disputes flowing from spousal issues.
