The University of Houston’s Department of Information Science Technology and Cullen College of Engineering will present Digifest Fall 2023, a conversation and showcase of new technologies poised to transform the digital media field.
Brian Wassom, a partner at Warner Norcross + Judd who chairs the firm’s Emerging Media and Technology Group, will participate on a panel of industry leaders to discuss new developments and latest trends in digital media. Joining Wassom on stage are:
- Salim Gheewalla, vice president of marketing and alliances at Calian IT & Cyber Solutions
- Tommy Hooks, head of user experience at Chevron
- Staci Latoison, founding partner, Dream Big Ventures
- Jocelyn Randolph, CEO, Control Shift Video
The event will be held at the University of Houston’s Brazos Hall on Nov. 14 beginning at 3:30 p.m. The event features a showcase of student projects which typically includes digital photography, videography, gaming app design and simulation, graphic design, computer graphics, print media, packaging, artificial intelligence and virtual and augmented reality programs. Employers regularly attend Digifest to network with creators, students, alumni, faculty and industry professionals who are doing innovative work.

A sought-after speaker, Wassom is a futurist at heart who tracks legal issues arising from a wide range of cutting-edge technologies. He is chair of Warner’s Emerging Media and Technologies Group and has developed a particular focus on matters of creative expression, First Amendment rights, commercial identity and privacy, which spans the legal doctrines of copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity rights, advertising, journalism and related fields.
