Warner Norcross + Judd LLP sponsored the 63rd Annual Probate & Estate Planning Institute seminar cohosted by the Probate & Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan and the Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
Warner Partners Mark K. Harder and David L. J. M. Skidmore joined other national and regional experts who presented during the three-day event. Even the most seasoned estate planners benefited from robust discussion on topics including navigating retirement assets, saving time with technology, critical caselaw, Medicaid updates and other legislative matters. Guests also had opportunities to network with industry colleagues at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa.
Harder, who chairs Warner’s Private Client and Family Office Practice, challenged guests to expect the unexpected when dealing with family cottages in his presentation “Cottages: LLC Versus Trust Versus Co-Tenancies Choice of Entity.” At Warner, Harder concentrates his practice in estate planning and administration for high-net-worth individuals and in the representation of family-owned businesses and their owners. He practices in the firm’s Holland office.
Skidmore, who is a former chair of the State Bar of Michigan's Probate and Estate Planning Council, offered a plenary session covering recent caselaw updates. Skidmore concentrates his practice on probate, trust, estate, fiduciary, and real property disputes and litigation. He practices in the firm’s Grand Rapids office.
The event began Thursday, May 18 at noon at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa in Acme, MI., and concluded May 20. Seminar attendees earned up to 12.5 CLE credits for their participation.
