The Midwest Securities Law Institute is a one-day seminar for practicing attorneys, corporate counsel, compliance officers, arbitrators, financial industry professionals and law students to examine current issues in securities regulation. Participants will receive updates from the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs and hear from leading experts in securities law and securities litigation.

Warner attorney Shane Hansen will moderate the panel discussion “Off Channel Communication and REG BI and other Hot Topics – Views from both a Regulator and Compliance Officer.” Joining Hansen in the discussion are:

  • Joe Borg, former director, Alabama Securities Commission
  • Chad Hartwick, director of compliance, Comply.com
  • Susan Weis, division of examinations, Securities and Exchange Commission

Hansen’s 40-year law practice concentrates on financial services regulation, primarily involving federal and state securities and banking laws, and FINRA regulation of member broker-dealers and their registered professionals. He advises broker-dealers, investment advisers, private fund advisers, M&A brokers, banks and family offices on a wide range of business, corporate, contract, compliance and regulatory topics.
