Congress finally exempted M&A advisors, consultants and business brokers (M&A brokers) from registration as a broker-dealer in private company M&A transactions, effective March 29, 2023. This change in federal law clarifies and widens the scope of M&A professional services supporting private company M&A transactions and their resulting deal flow.
Attendees learned about the new federal M&A broker registration exemption and opportunities for compensated referrals and deeper collaboration among M&A brokers, PE/VC firms, commercial lenders, CPAs, attorneys and other M&A professionals.
