In her practice today, Monica leverages a wealth of diverse legal experiences to provide exceptional service to her clients. Her time as a judicial extern for the Honorable Judge Mark Randon of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan gave her invaluable insight into judicial decision-making and the intricacies of bankruptcy law. Additionally, her internship with the Michigan Department of Attorney General’s Conviction Integrity Unit honed her skills in legal analysis and advocacy, particularly in addressing complex issues of justice and fairness. Monica also gained practical, hands-on experience during her summer associate positions with corporate law firms, where she deepened her understanding of transactional matters and litigation strategy. These varied experiences have shaped her well-rounded approach to legal practice, enabling her to tackle challenges with a strong commitment to achieving the best outcomes for clients.

Monica holds her Juris Doctor, <em>summa cum laude</em>, from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, having been recognized on the Dean’s List and as a Dean’s Fellow scholarship and award recipient, awarded with the Henry H. Tarrant Award for Black Student Excellence and the Spirit of Detroit Mercy Law Award, and was involved in the Black Law Students Association, the Women’s Law Caucus and the Office of Student Affairs. She was ranked second in her graduating class. She earned a Bachelor of Science in communication studies and minored in Japanese language and literature from the University of Georgia. There she achieved Dean’s List status and was the secretary for the Undergraduate National Communication Association, council chair of Georgia Daze and was a mentor for both Elevate Clarke County Mentor Program and the Black Educational Support Team.
