Having lived in India, Australia and Italy during the formative years of my life has profoundly shaped my worldview and my understanding of people. During her judicial externships with Chief Judge Hala Jarbou of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan and Judge David W. McKeague of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, Katrin gained invaluable insight into the judicial decision-making process, learning strategies to achieve success at both the trial and appellate levels.

Katrin's legal internship with the Public Defender’s Office in Muskegon deepened her connection to the community and fulfilled her passion for helping individuals overcome legal challenges. This hands-on experience reinforced her commitment to serving clients with empathy and diligence, equipping her with a nuanced ability to navigate the complexities of the legal system while remaining steadfastly client focused.

Katrin holds her Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law, where she attended on full academic scholarship, was ranked top 5% in her class and was editor-in-chief of the Michigan State Law Review. She was awarded several Jurisprudence Achievement Awards for the highest grades in research, writing and analysis, torts, criminal law, advocacy and negotiation. She also earned a spot on the Dean’s List all six semesters. Katrin earned her Bachelor of Arts in political science and a minor in history, summa cum laude, from Hope College and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
