Often serving as outside counsel for small and mid-sized businesses, Cody Mott is a corporate transactional attorney with experience in variety of practice areas, including commercial finance, M&amp;A,  entity formation, corporate governance, venture capital, private equity and economic incentives. He nurtures and counsels clients through every stage of business, providing full-circle legal representation from inception to succession. He drafts and reviews contracts and corporate governance forms, and assists with distribution and supply agreements. He also provides business counsel and due diligence services to avoid future pitfalls, and connects business owners with finance opportunities for a variety of business growth needs.

In his venture capital and private equity practice, Cody plays a crucial role in guiding startups through the process of structuring early-stage financing agreements. He guides companies through the private securities offerings companies need to fuel their growth.

Within his economic incentives practice, Cody specializes in securing Housing Tax Increment Financing (TIFs) to promote housing development initiatives. Acting as a bridge between companies and governmental bodies, he crafts innovative solutions that not only foster economic growth but also leave a lasting positive impact on communities and individuals alike.

Cody earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and business economics from Grand Valley State University. He earned his Juris Doctor from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and was the articles editor at the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies, was awarded brief writing honors at the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition, participated in the the Federalist Society and volunteered for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and with the End-of-Life pro-bono program. Before law school, Cody worked as a legislative aide in the Michigan House of Representatives.
