Representative Experience
- Over twenty years experience servicing client needs in all aspects of trademarks and copyrights including application and registration, enforcement against infringement and counterfeiting, selection and availability screening, acquisition, and licensing
- Counseled numerous clients regarding the selection, availability and use of trademarks - a necessary step for avoiding costly conflicts with existing marks and maximizing the strength and protection of the mark chosen
- Prepared and prosecuted trademark applications, oppositions and cancellations before the United States Trademark Office and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board
- Coordinated the registration and enforcement of clients' trademarks in foreign countries worldwide
- Advised clients on a variety of internet issues, including acquisition and maintenance of domain names, domain name disputes and other trademark and copyright aspects of the internet
- Worked to protect the trademarks and copyrights of clients such as Amway, Spartan Stores, Wolverine World Wide, Warrior Lacrosse and Hockey, Brine, the Arena Football League, Major League Baseball, United Media (the owner of the rights to "Dilbert," "Snoopy," "Charlie Brown," and other comic strip characters), Outback Steakhouse, and many others
- Conducted anti-infringement programs including applying for, obtaining and conducting civil and criminal seizures of unauthorized and counterfeit merchandise in cities across the country
- Worked with the U.S. Customs Service to prevent the importation of counterfeit and infringing goods
