Warner Norcross Partner Elected Chair of Great Lakes Area TE-GE Liaison Council

5/9/2012

Anthony J. Kolenic Jr., a partner with the law firm Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, has been elected chair of the Great Lakes Area Tax Exempt-Government Entities Liaison Council.

The Council serves as a liaison to the tax exempt/government entities division of the Internal Revenue Service, which oversees employee benefit plans, exempt organizations and government entities.  Members must be nominated by a current member of the Council and have demonstrated professional competence to contribute meaningfully to the fulfillment of the purposes of the Council.  Kolenic, who previously served as program coordinator, will serve an one-year term as chair.

The Council works to open and maintain lines of communication between the Great Lakes Area TE/GE Division of the IRS and the practitioner community within the area.  Members of the Council provide input to the IRS on procedural and systemic matters, ranging from policies and procedures to specific tax issues.

Kolenic has practiced law in West Michigan for more than 30 years, the past 17 as a partner at Warner Norcross.  He represents private sector, tax-exempt and governmental employers in all facets of employee benefits and executive compensation law.  He currently serves as chair of the Employee Benefits Practice Group and practices in both Muskegon and Grand Rapids.
