Richard A. Roane Joins the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers

Richard A. Roane, a partner with the law firm Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, has joined the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, or IAML.

IAML is a worldwide association of practicing lawyers formed in 1986 to improve the practice of law and administration of justice in the area of divorce and family law.  Members of the IAML, which is by invitation only, have been recognized by their peers as the most experienced and skilled family law specialists in their respective countries.

Roane has practiced family law and domestic relations litigation for 25 years, serving as chair of Warner’s Family Law Practice Group. He concentrates his practice in divorce, non-marital domestic relationships, domestic relations mediation and arbitration, spousal support, child custody and support, complex business valuation distribution, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, international divorce and child abduction and return matters.

Active professionally and in the community, Roane is a member of the Institute of Continuing Legal Education Family Law Advisory Board, Collaborative Divorce Professionals of Michigan and is a former member of the board of directors for the Legal Assistance Center.  He is the Michigan chapter president and co-chair of the Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender/Alternative Family Committee of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

Roane is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan and the Grand Rapids Bar Association.  He has been named to the Michigan Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America, which has recognized him as the Grand Rapids Lawyer of the Year for family law in 2012.
