Warner Norcross & Judd LLP has received an award for its diversity initiatives.

The Southfield and Sterling Heights offices of the Firm received an honorable mention from Crain’s Detroit Business in its annual Diversity Awards competition. Warner Norcross was recognized for:

  • A Warner Tapestry: The second of two blogs launched in 2008, A Warner Tapestry is an interactive, Firm-only site that allows attorneys and staff to share information about their family history and traditions, pass along tips for books and movies, comment on the worth of diversity programs offered by the firm and related matters.

  • One Book, One Firm: This innovative program encouraged everyone in the firm to read the same book to create a common experience that served as the basis for firm-wide discussion. The book, Stealing Buddha’s Dinner, was written by a Michigan author about her experience as a Vietnamese girl growing up in Michigan. Participants read the book and joined in discussions regarding the book’s message both at firm-sponsored events and on A Warner Tapestry. The initiative concluded with a celebration of Tet, which is the Vietnamese New Year, that featured authentic Vietnamese food and a panel of Vietnamese speakers who offered insights into their personal experiences acclimating to Western culture.

  • Implementation of programs to increase retention of minority and women attorneys
  • Expanded recruiting of minority and women attorneys at all levels
  • Scholarships and other programs designed to expand the pipeline of minority lawyers
  • Firm-wide diversity education with innovative programming
  • Internal diversity blog to maintain an ongoing discussion of diversity and cultural competence
  • Publication of its third Diversity and Inclusion Annual Report
