Warner Norcross & Judd LLP has improved its ranking on The National Law Journal survey of the Top 250 Law Firms in the country for the fourth consecutive year.
With 222 attorneys, Warner Norcross was ranked 190 on The National Law Journal's annual list of the largest law firms – an improvement of nine places over its 2008 ranking. Warner Norcross, which has six offices across the state, is now ranked as the fifth largest law firm in Michigan.
In its editorial explanation of the list, The National Law Journal noted that law firms reported that 2009 saw an average of 5 percent reduction in size – the largest decline in overall attorney headcount in the more than three decades that the publication has been tracking law firm growth. In the past 32 years, average attorney headcounts have only declined twice – and then only by 1 percent or less.
During the last year, Warner Norcross added seven attorneys for a net increase of three percent. Since 2006, the firm has added nearly 50 attorneys, many of them partners or senior counsel who joined to strengthen specific practice areas. The firm also added several new practice areas, including International Dispute Resolution, Business Start Ups and Early Round Financing, Records Information Management and Public-Private Partnerships.
