A Warner Norcross & Judd LLP staff member has received professional certification as a Professional Paralegal from NALS, the association for legal professionals.
Kim Dewey, who joined the Firm in 2007, successfully completed the certification requirements, which demonstrate an advanced knowledge of procedural law, the law library and the preparation of legal documents. Those who hold the Professional Paralegal certification also possess a working knowledge of all areas of substantive law and the ability to perform specifically delegated legal work under an attorney's supervision.
The one-day certification exam covers four areas: written communications, legal knowledge and skills, ethics and judgment, and substantive law. To be eligible for certification, a paralegal must have a minimum of five years of experience.
