Michigan Lawyers Weekly has honored Heidi A. Lyon, an associate with Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, as one of 20 "Up & Coming Lawyers" for 2009.
Lyon, who concentrates her practice in employee benefits and executive compensation, was recognized in the annual edition that acknowledges the best of Michigan's young attorneys. To be selected for the honor, Michigan Lawyers Weekly looks for young attorneys who have established a name for themselves earlier in their careers and are "poised for even greater accomplishments in the future."
Since joining Warner Norcross in March 2008, Lyon has worked with some of Michigan's largest employers on a variety of benefits issues, including qualified retirement plans, health and welfare benefit plans, fringe benefit plans and others. Her expertise has earned her a seat on the IRS Great Lakes Tax-Exempt and Governmental Entities Council, an invitation-only group of select practitioners who meet with IRS and Department of Labor officials to discuss the latest employee benefit issues.
Lyon has also authored articles for state and national publications, including Thomson Reuters, on various benefits topics. She was recently recognized as a Rising Star by Michigan Super Lawyers.
Active professionally and in the community, Lyon is the first vice president of the Arts Council of Greater Michigan and a member of the Women Lawyers Association of Western Michigan and the Economic Club of Grand Rapids. She is also a member of the American Bar association and the State Bar of Michigan.
Lyon received her doctor of jurisprudence from George Washington University and her bachelor of arts with distinction from the University of Michigan.
