Mark K. Harder, a partner with Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, has been named Trust and Estates Lawyer of the Year in the Grand Rapids area by The Best Lawyers in America® 2010.
Harder, who concentrates his practices in trusts and estates law, was one of two attorneys at the firm to be recognized as a "Lawyer of the Year" by Best Lawyers, the leading peer-reviewed guide to legal excellence. These attorneys have received particularly high ratings in Best Lawyers’ surveys by earning a high level of respect among their peers for their abilities, professionalism and integrity.
Harder was instrumental in drafting the Michigan Trust Code, which will govern how trusts are established and administered in the state beginning April 1, 2010. The Code both modernizes and fills important gaps in the previous law.
Active both personally and professionally, Harder is secretary of the Michigan State Bar's Probate and Estate Planning Section. He is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and serves on its State Laws Committee. He also is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bars of Michigan and Wisconsin and the Michigan State Bar Foundation.
He has held leadership and board positions with numerous organizations, including the Holland Area Chamber of Commerce and the Center for Women in Transition. He is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America and Michigan Super Lawyers.
