Amanda is an associate in the Firm's Grand Rapids office specializing in employment litigation and intellectual property litigation. In representing clients in employment matters, Amanda has counseled mid-to large-size corporations on employment issues. Amanda has also successfully defended these companies at both the trial and appellate level against all manner of employment-related lawsuits including Title VII, Michigan's Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, Michigan’s Workers' Disability Compensation Act, and the Whistleblowers' Protection Act.

Amanda has also developed an extensive intellectual property practice. She has successfully prosecuted and defended patent rights, represented clients in trade secret and trademark misappropriation cases, including a leading sports manufacturer, and has counseled clients on advertising and marketing law issues, focusing primarily on clients' compliance with FTC's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, as well as the FTC's Green Guides.

  • Represented The Dow Chemical Company in obtaining summary judgment in race discrimination case, report at 2008 WL 880512; affirmed ___ F.3d ___, 2009 WL 2851351 (6th Cir. 2009)
  • Represented The Dow Chemical Company in obtaining summary judgment in breach of contract and retaliation case, which was affirmed by the Michigan Court of Appeals
  • Represented The Dow Chemical Company in obtaining summary judgment in age discrimination case
  • Represented The Dow Chemical Company in obtaining summary judgment in FMLA retaliation case
  • Represented large Michigan utility company in obtaining summary judgment in gender and age discrimination case
  • Represented large Michigan manufacturing company in obtaining summary judgment in workers' compensation retaliation case
  • Represented a national manufacturer of plumbing products in bringing claim of false advertising and unfair competition against a competitor
  • Represented leadings sports manufacturer in protecting and prosecuting patent and trademark rights
